The 2014 Arsies: January 29, 2014

January 29, 2014

Ho boy.
Today's match is perhaps one of the closest matches of the entire tournament, and possibly the most controversial, as each band has their share of detractors. So it's only fitting that these two champions of smooth metal should go head-to-head. I've listened to each album enough to know that The Living Infinite and Black Out The Sun are the best releases of Soilwork and Sevendust's respective careers. Truly excellent material today, and not a moment's desire to skip a track (a real achievement, with over two hours of combined material for just one playthrough).
As I said three weeks ago, The Living Infinite has one flaw: its songs have a lack of variety to them. And while it's manifestly more metal than Black Out The Sun, it's this one flaw that gives Sevendust the edge, and the battle is theirs today. Let's see how they do next week against Gorguts.
Next up: The Dillinger Escape Plan and The Psyke Project!
