Week 6! Our sixth-to-last contest! And here I sit with a broken heart.
Why's that? Because as much as I love Karnivool and what they've done with their latest album, I can't possibly award today's victory to them. Sure, Asymmetry has tons of heart and excellent prog and flashes of satisfying ear-grit, but you know and I know that its claim to being metal has always been tenuous at best. Meanwhile, the DEP is all kinds of metal. It's also progressive in its own way, just as catchy when it counts, and frankly not likely to be defeated by the emo likes of Karnivool. A tough loss, but in the face of The Dillinger Escape Plan, an inevitable one. (I'll just give the Karnivool one last listen, out of respect...)
Tomorrow, it's... oh god. Revocation vs Carcass. Can't I have both?
